Andrew Lang (1844–1912) was a Scottish poet, novelist, literary critic, and folklorist. He dedicated much of his life to collecting and retelling myths, legends, and fairy tales from around the world.
He is best known for his Color Fairy Books series, and The Green Fairy Book is the third volume in that beloved collection. Through these books, Lang aimed to share the magic and wisdom of folk stories with children everywhere.
Although Andrew Lang’s name appears as the author, much of the translation and adaptation work was done by his wife, Leonora Blanche Lang, along with a team of talented women. Their careful storytelling and beautiful language helped preserve these tales and make them accessible to generations of young readers.
